| No escape route for general: Rather | | 'Will make stand in our august House' | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 30,: Coming down heavily on former Indian Army Chief for tarnishing the image of Jammu and Kashmir Ministers, Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather Monday said Singh will not now find an escape route and our party would make stand in the State Assembly to reveal the names of those people whom he transferred money. Speaking on the obituary reference in Legislative Assembly, Rather said that Singh has damaged the image not only of the Indian Army, but also of the country internationally. "This man will not find any escape route now. We are after him and we will force him to utter the truth. General V.K.Singh should come up with the facts and we will make full use of law to make him stand in our House as he has tarnished our image," Rather said. He said that Singh does not know what he has done. "His irresponsible statement created a storm not only in Kashmir but at national as well as international level. We are not going to hush up the issue and would force Singh to open his mouth and clear the things," he said. "He has set fire by issuing a statement alleging that payments were made to some ministers and members of this august house. He cannot be allowed to now go and sit silent in his house. If he has proof, he must put it in the domain of this august house," Rather said. "I request every member of this august house to support the privilege motion and put the former army chief in the dock of this house for attempting to bring down the prestige of this house. The house has the power to do so," Rather said. Rather said that National Conference would made a special plea to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson to bring General V.K.Singh here and made him accountable for his silly and foolish remarks. |
