| After Hiranagar, SHO Gagwal suspended for dereliction | | Probe initiated in Fidayeen attack | | Sumit Sharma
Jammu, Sept 30: After militant attack in twin districts of Kathua and Samba, a probe has been initiated into the incident. Highly placed sources in police informed that the internal probe has been initiated to find out lacunae in police department which facilitated passage of the militants who then attacked Hiranagar police station and Samba army camp killing 10 persons. The enquiry was entrusted to SDPO Border Mohan Lal Kaith who gathered evidence and has prepared a report. Meanwhile, SHO Gagwal Chaman Gorkha has been placed under suspension for dereliction of his duty. He received the message from PCR that some militants in a vehicle were on way towards Samba, but the SHO concerned, held a naka on National Highway after half an hour of receiving message. Earlier, SHO Hiranagar Raj Kumar Padha was placed under suspension for his cowardice act. This police officer escaped from the police station leaving others at the hand of militants. The sequence in militants attack exposed the police's policy and forced the common man to think how much save they are at the hand of 'Jaambaj Sepoy'. Sources maintained that inquiry is in progress, adding FIRs of militant attack have been registered in Kathua and Samba police stations respectively. However following the incident, reactions against police for its utter failure , started pouring in.Besides other social and political organizations, The All India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF) chairman M S Bitta termed the militant strikes were a major security failure. "The Jammu and Kashmir government has failed on the security front as this is a major security lapse that the three terrorists first target the Hiranagar police station and then the Army Camp at Samba," Bitta said. Pertinently on September 26 ,dressed in Army fatigues, terrorists stormed a police station and then an Army camp in Jammu region killing 10 people, including an Army officer, in twin 'fidayeen' attacks after they sneaked in from across the border early on Thursday. Three militants reached the Hiranagar police station in Kathua district in an auto rickshaw. They then attacked the police station, which is barely seven km from the international border, killing four police personnel and two civilians on way. Once the attack at the police station got over, the guerrillas shot dead a truck driver and stole his truck that was parked at the police station complex and escaped. They took to the Pathankot-Jammu highway and the gunmen opened fire in Samba town -- only to run into Indian troops. They then barged into the army unit and killed four army officers including Lt Col Bikramjeet Singh of Chandigarh, the second-in-command of the unit stationed at the camp, was among the four slain Army personnel. The other three slain army personnel have been identified as Inder Singh, mess keeper of Rajasthan and SWR Nissala Srinivas of Andrapradesh. The unit's Commanding Officer (CO) Col A Uthaiah, who was among the three injured at the Army Camp, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a hospital in Pathankot. Later the lesser-known militant outfit 'Shohada Brigade' claimed responsibility for the attack |
