| RSS chief Bhagwat's novel intervention in J&K | | Omar, Congress & Accession | | Neha
JAMMU, Sept 30: NC working president and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is no factor; it is the Congress-led UPA irresponsible government at the Centre that is responsible for the prevailing mess in Jammu & Kashmir; the Congress and the weak and ambivalent UPA Government have given a freehand to Omar Abdullah so that he could preach secessionism and challenge the otherwise final, irrevocable, unconditional non-negotiable accession of J&K with India; and the Congress and the UPA are patronizing elements like Omar Abdullah who have been preaching secessionism in India. This was one of the major upshots of the remarkable, very inspiring and timely address made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat. The RSS chief addressed a very impressive gathering of RSS Swayamsevaks and supporters on Sunday in Jammu in the evening. He spoke extempore for more than an hour on the serious problems facing the country and on hostile elements in the state and elsewhere and urged the society to work in tandem to defeat the sinister game plan of those who have been working against India, creating schism in the society and hampering the process of national integration. The RSS chief not only very rightly said that Kashmir has been culturally, civilizationally and politically part of India since ages and shall ever remain the country's integral part, as the nation is not prepared to give an inch of land to Pakistan, but also referred to the controversial meeting between Omar Abdullah and the visiting European Union delegation at Srinagar last week in which the J&K Chief Minister said that J&K had only acceded and not merged with India and charged the state government with pursuing policies calculated to cause migration of minorities from places like Kishtwar so that the secessionists could enact anti-India acts with utmost ease. The minority community in Kishtwar district was targeted by anti-India and communal forces on August 9, 2013 and created an alarming situation there. "Since the days of King Lalitaditya, about 1500 years ago, Kashmir was a part of India. It is unfortunate that the state is sponsoring violence in Jammu & Kashmir to force migration of the minority communities. The Centre's weak policies are encouraging politicians like Omar Abdullah to preach secessionism and to challenge the lawful and constitutional merger of Jammu & Kashmir with India. I want to remind Omar Abdullah and his ilk that the merger of Jammu & Kashmir with India is unconditional, unchallenged and irreversible so the country would not accept such secessionist language. The State of Jammu & Kashmir acceded to India the same way other princely states acceded to India on or before or after August 15, 1947," the RSS chief said to set the record straight and caution Omar Abdullah and the likes of him. It bears recalling that Omar Abdullah had also challenged the state's integration into India on March 25 this year and ridiculed the Indian law-makers, the nationalists and the critics of the separatist, communal and anti-people and anti-democratic Article 370. He had misused the floor of the Assembly and said the state had not merged with India and that by repeating the words "atoot Ang" you could not alter the political status of the so-called Kashmir problem. The Government of India and the State Governor did not intervene then to rein in Omar Abdullah. Nor did they take cognizance of what transpired during the meeting between the visiting European Union delegation and Omar Abdullah. The RSS chief was absolutely right when he accused the authorities at the centre of abdicating their authority and permitting the likes of Omar Abdullah, who are no factor at all in the Kashmir's political situation, to indulge in break-India activities. The RSS chief, Mohan Bhagwat, also used the opportunity to describe the plight of the people of Jammu province and to urge the society to swing solidly behind the Army and paramilitary forces which have been sacrificing their precious lives to secure the people's life and defend the borers. "On the one hand, the people of Jammu province are facing the onslaught of terror and, on the other hand, they are a victim of the discriminatory policies of the successive governments in the state," he said, and added that what is needed is the support of all sections of society to eradicate the scourge of terrorism". "Army and paramilitary forces alone cannot fight the war against terrorism. The society as a whole must take the plunge and help the security forces in their crusade against terror," he said while reflecting on the Thursday terror attacks in Hiranagar and Samba, which left at least 10 persons, including soldiers, policemen and two civilians dead. The Central Government and the State Governor must take cognizance of what the RSS chief said and act accordingly. The nation cannot afford a dispensation that watches the anti-India activities being indulged in by constitutional authorities like Chief Minister as a mute spectator |
