Jammu, Sept 30: Is placing a PDP activist as the provincial convener of JKCA a political manouvre to shoot down the possibility of the PDP raising the issue of the multi-crore scam in the JKCA.
While the former Chief Minister and Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Resources, Dr. Farooq Abdullah remains the life patron of the JKCA, Mehboob Iqbal, a retired senior bureaucrat who joined the PDP after retirement, has been appointed as the provincial convener of the JKCA for the Jammu province.
Mehboob Iqbal has also been accused by the State Vigiliance Organization (SVO) for his alleged role in the infamous Gulmarg land lease scam in which the present Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar was also challaned by the SVO in the special anti-corruption court.
Sources in the JKCA have said the appointment of Mehboob Iqbal, who is a member of the JKCA, is politically motivated to "silence the opposition and the pro-active thrust by the PDP to seek unearthing of the names of those involved in the multi-crore JKCA funds scam.
The ball is now directly in the court of the PDP which had raised the pitch against the fund scam in the JKCA. Would the tacit appeasement of one its members who is also likely to get the PDP mandate during the forthcoming assembly elections from Kishtwar check the PDP in the steps to seek the unearthing of the JKCA funds scam? |
