| U-19 volleyball coach held for slapping another coach | | | early times report
Rajouri, Sept 30: Rajouri police have arrested the coach of under 19 volleyball team for misbehaving and slapping the coach of Jammu team during state level final match in full public view and in the presence of DIG police who was the chief guest at the venue.
"Mohd Hanief Khan, coach of Rajouri team was later booked by the police under sections 323/504/506 RPC and was arrested on spot under section 151CrPC by the city police post in-charge.
Police reports said that during the final match of state level under 19 Volleyball Tournament between Rajouri and Jammu district and match was suspended after two games as the Jammu team refused to play the final match in protest against misbehave with their coach. However the match later resumed after reportedly 2 hours of hectic efforts of the organizers who assured the Jammu team that appropriate action against the erring officer has been taken by the police and by the department.
Thereafter in an emergent meeting called after the incident, Sikander Parvez , Officiating District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYS&SO) while chairing district and zonal sports officers meet revealed the decision that the coach of under 19 Rajouri Volley Ball team has been placed under suspension for his misbehavior.
Mohd Ayaz Khan, DYS&SO, who is presently in Srinagar to participate in National sports event, in a telephonic conversation said that Mohd Hanif Mirza, coach of under 19 Rajouri team has committed a shameful act and for that he will not be spared.
Meantime DIG Rajouri Poonch who was chief guest on the occasion during sidelines of occasion the incident said, "it was bizarre incident that those who are entrusted to maintain discipline among the students today himself are seen involved in indiscipline".
Jammu team won the first game and was to win the second game when some point dispute took place between the two coaches and Mohd Hanief and Jagjit Chib both officials got a wordy dual and Hanief slapped the coach of Jammu team. Chief guest also left the venue and later instructed the police to take action against the coach of Rajouri team. |
