Sub-standard construction material being used at JU's Bhaderwah campus

BHADERWAH, Sept 30: Hinting at unholy nexus between authorities, private agency and contractor, students of the Bhaderwah campus of the University of Jammu today hit the road alleging use of poor quality building material in various construction works going on in the campus.
Students staged strong protest on campus and shouted anti administration slogans and alleged that A private agency and contractor were using sub standard material in the construction of hostels, water tanks and other projects on the campus, endangering innocent lives and authorities are deliberately ignoring the misdoings as they are hand in glove with them. They demanded immediate registration of FIR against the erring contractor and the supervising agency.
Students alleged that UGC provided huge funds for the construction of new blocks and hostels for boys and girls but the new buildings would be threat for the inmates as sub-standard material was being used in its construction and administration was mum. "We approached Bhaderwah Campus authorities and concerned contractors and the private agency and urged them to use quality materiel in all works in the longer interest of student community, but they ignored our concerns. We approached officials of campus administration who did nothing to probe the matter," Arun Singh ,President of students Union of Bhaderwah campus informed and said they had also brought the matter to notice of VC Jammu University but nothing has changed on ground . "There is every possibility that these structures would collapse in frequent earth quakes that we experience in he region . We urge the authorities to look into the matter as building is still incomplete," they said and demanded black listing of concerned agency and contractors for using sub standard material. Students have raised doubts over larger nexus between contractors and politicians of the region which have been patronized by the university administration also. They have appealed to the Chief Minister and the Governor to take cognizance of their concerns and order an inquiry into the discrepancies pointed out by them. Students have also raised serious question mark on the conduct of the rector Bhaderwah campus for denying them permission to celebrate the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh on the campus. Students Union President Arun Singh along with Kalicharan Saini , Hardeep Charak , Lalit Sharma ,Parnav Gupta , Monica Rajpoot , Surbhi Sharma , Shubam Gupta and Yasir Malik alleged that they were denied permission to pay tributes to biggest freedom fighter of the country for unknown reasons.
