Jammu, Sept 30: Duggar Pradesh Party (DPP) condemned the state Government for Transporters strike for not handling the issue well in time even after their various demands and warnings to go on strike which has caused disruption, in-convenience to the general public and paralyzed the whole system. DPP said that actually the strike was called on the behest of Government to justify the proposed and demanded enhancement of bus fares before the public and put more burdens on the poor people by enhancing the various fares which are already facing unchecked all-round price rise. Uday Chand, President, DPP said that State Government has no transport policy years together and the whole public transport has been surrendered to the private transporters by making State Road Transport Corporation as defunct. Uday Chand further said that Tourism is a major industry of J&K state and to boost the tourism business, organized, properly managed and safe transport system is must required which our state has not. He said the monopoly of private transport sectors is outcome of rampant corruption and tourists were not being provided comfortable journey. DPP strongly demanded that both the Governments, Central and State should exempt 50% tax on all petroleum products, which is the major route cause of price rise in the country and after this there is no need of enhancing the fares of public transport, not only in J&K but whole of the country. It further said that it is cruel rather criminal that Central Government and State Governments are charging more than 100% tax on all the petroleum products which includes petrol, Diesel, LPG, Grease and Engine oils. |
