| Metrology Deptt books car accessory owner for 'overcharging' | | | early times report
Jammu, Sept 30: Legal Metrology Department during its surprise inspection booked a car accessories dealer in Gandhi Nagar under different provisions of law for selling accessory items without MRP marking, address of the manufacture & consumer helpline number required for the information of the consumers.
The enforcement team comprising Amar Singh Joint Controller Legal Metrology, Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller Consumer Protection, Vikram Gour President Consumer Welfare Association and others booked a car accessories dealer following a complaint from consumer about over charging on the purchase of coolant additive by a car accessories dealer. The team during its inspection found that the MRP which is mandatory declaration under law was not marked on the commodity & accordingly case was also registered under law for other discrepancies on spare parts.
Meantime team also visited others business trading establishments in the area and found that the sweets sellers and instructed sweet sellers for marking net weight on the pre-packed boxes of sweets and to prominently display the rates fixed by the competent authority. The department also instructed to keep the weighing instrument with printing facility of weight & rates for the information of the consumers which is a mandatory requirement under the law. |
