| JU teachers reject UGC amended API guidelines 2013 | | | ET Report Jammu, Oct 10: The teachers of Jammu University today tore the copies of the UGC amended API guidelines 2013 and thus rejected the decision of the University authorities to take the same in the University council meeting scheduled to be held tomorrow in Srinagar for approval. An overwhelming number of university teachers gathered outside the Vice Chancellor's Secretariat to protest against the hasty implementation of the UGC amended regulations 2013, on the second consecutive day today. Rejecting the proposal, the Jammu University teachers criticized the University authorities for the hasty implementation of the amended guidelines of capping system for the appointments and promotions of teachers in the university. The teachers tore the copies of the guidelines and demanded that the same should be deliberated within the University itself first and a transitionary period of two years should be given to the teachers for its adoption. Addressing the teaching community, the JUTA President Prof J P Singh Joorel said that they would wait for the outcome of the University Council meeting which is being held tomorrow and if nothing favorable comes out of this meeting, the JUTA will then decide about further course of action which would be in the interest and benefit of entire teaching faculty of the University of Jammu. All the teachers, in one voice, opposed the UGC amended guidelines 2013 and criticized the University for its Hasty Implementation without giving adequate time to the teachers to prepare for the same. |
