| Following Keran, New Delhi wakes up to 'security lapses' | | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, Oct 10: After Keran encounter which was called off by Army after 14 days without receiving the bodies of militants killed in the fierce gun battle came under suspicion, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said that information about infiltration was already given to the security agencies and has also indicted lapses in the security arrangement of the State. Talking to media persons, Sushil Kumar Shinde said that New Delhi had already sent an alert regarding fresh infiltration attempts from across the Line of Control. He said that Centre had information about infiltration attempts as a whole in Jammu and Kashmir and had already sent an alert to the security agencies of the State and such an alert was restricted to Keran or Samba infiltrating attempts only but it was signal of infiltration as a whole from across the Line of Control. While indicting lapses in security arrangements, Union Home Minister said that he has asked for a report from the security agencies of Jammu and Kashmir about the recent infiltrating attempts launched across the Line of Control after lapses in the overall security arrangements were smelled which need to inquired too. The statement of Sushil Kumar Shinde has come at a time when media reports indicated that two recent firing incidents of Kathua/Samba and Keran gun battle are suspicious and fingers are raised on security arrangements after Samba firing incident of September 26 in which 12 people were killed followed by two week long operation of Army in Keran sector which was called off by Army without receiving the bodies of infiltrators killed in the gun battle. Meanwhile, Border Security Forces have denied the media reports that twin attacks of militants in Jammu region of September 26 is a security lapse and denied that militants had crossed over Indian territory from Hira Nagar falling on the International Border area. |
