| Kashmir comes on roads as Govt goes into hiding | | Shortage of amenities | | Shakeel A Khan
SRINAGAR, June 24: The non availability of the basic amenities has forced the people of many areas of the valley to come on the roads. With the each passing day the problems go on aggravating, courtesy, apathy of the government. The government is nowhere to be found these days and the non-availability of funds has put a question mark on the functioning of various departments. It is annoying that half of the year has ended and the meetings of the district development boards have not been conducted so for. The people of the valley are surprised to see the government acting in such a lazy manner. The people ask as to when the government is going to start the developmental works. This ill attitude of the government is giving anxious moments to the people. "What are the plans of the government for the year? Given the climatic conditions of the valley, only four months or less than that are at the disposal of the government to carry on the developmental works," said some people at Srinagar while talking to Early Times. As per these people the government hasn't taken up the developmental works like widening and macdamization of the roads, the construction of school buildings and bridges, utilizing the resources for the employment of the youth and most importantly improving the health sector of the state. The non availability of the electricity gives the people of the state the toughest of the times, not only during the winters but in the summers as well. Some people from District Budgam who were talked to by the Early Times said "The rural areas of the state are the worst sufferers which have been totally neglected by the coalition government. Our cries for help don't seem to touch the heart of the people in power who have become stone hearted,". They added that the people in power come to kiss their feet only during the election days. They try to keep them happy through their hollow slogans and false promises which according to these people are the tactics of the power hungry people. It is the belief of the people that the upsets in the recently held parliamentary elections has disheartened the people in power so much so that they forgotten about their responsibilities towards the people of the state. The people in power, as the commoners believe, are in a state of fix whereby they can do nothing as expected from them. The only objective of the people in power, as these commoners believe, is to give their serious thoughts to the upcoming assembly elections. |
