| "Nationalist" BJP avoiding Art 370 , keeping NC in good humour | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 24: Amidst report of ruling National Conference extending olive branch to BJP, the later has decided to keep silence on the contentious issue of Article 370. Instead of reiterating its demand of revoking Article 370, the BJP has decided not to speak on this controversial issue to keep National Conference in good humour. Today, in an informal chat with media persons on the sidelines of the Core Committee meeting of the party, neither BJP national general secretary Jagat Parkash Nadda nor Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh spoke on this issue. When media persons asked about BJP stand on revocation of Article 370, which is core to the nationalist ideology of the party, both the BJP leaders tried to divert attention of the media persons. They rather parried the questions and said that today's meeting was convened just to discuss strategy to accomplish the task of Mission 44 Plus. BJP leaders were ready to speak on Article 370, which is base of the nationalist as well as integrated ideology of the party. On the day one after assuming charge as Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh had stirred a hornet's nest by stated that BJP Government has started the process of revoking Article 370. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other Kashmir centric parties had reacted strongly to Dr Singh's statement. Credible sources in the BJP said that it was all due to the results of the threats of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that BJP leadership has maintained silence over Article 370. BJP leadership, which always availed opportunity to speak against Article 370, has virtually ignored this issue after Omar Abdullah had threatened that Kashmir will not be a party of India if this Article revoked. Credible sources said that keeping in view the prevailing political situation in J&K, BJP has decided not to take any confrontation with National Conference. Party has kept its options open for post poll alliance in J&K so BJP leadership wants to keep National Conference in good humour.
