| National Conference not to announce candidates before Congress | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 24: National Conference (NC) is in no mood to announce list of contesting candidates for upcoming Assembly elections in the state as the party is keeping watch on the development of Congress party first. They are waiting for Congress to announce list of candidates first and then, NC will make public their list of candidates. A senior NC leader said that there is no formal announcement of breaking of alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections and until Congress party and NC top leadership make public that they are going to put an end to this six-year long coalition, the NC will not announce its list of candidates. "We are ready with our home work for both the cases, one to go alone for the elections and another to go in pre-poll alliance but chances are that there will be no alliance with any party for this election," he added. After the announcement by Congress party in Srinagar on Monday that the party will not go for pre-poll alliance has given a clear signal to NC to home work much better way and get ready for the elections without wasting much time. "Despite this feeler from Congress party, alliance will be broken only after 10 Janpath and our leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah go for an official statement in this regard," NC leaders said, adding grass root level workers of NC are also of same opinion that party must go for elections on their own and there should be no alliance with any party. "This has been made clear to the party leaders at different forums but to be in Government nothing has been done to address the aspirations of our workers. Now, time has come when party President must take bold decision and announce breaking of alliance with Congress party," he added. |
