| Kishtwar Police apprehends suspect resembling deadly Ultra; Investigations on | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, June 24: Kishtwar Police are preempting a major success in the arrest of a suspect who resembles longest surviving Hizb Supreme Commander Mohammad Ammin Butt alias Jhangir Saroori. The suspect was detained from Kishtwar town on Sunday where he was camping for last few weeks for medical treatment. As per the details available, a joint team of CRPF, Army and Kishtwar police led by Inspector Saroop Singh conducted the raid in close vicinity of District Hospital Kishtwar and arrested the suspect believed to be the Saroori wanted by the security forces since last 25 years. After arresting the suspect HM Commander, police whisked him to some unknown location. When contacted senior police officer denied the arrest of Saroori, however confirmed that the man resembling Hizb's longest surviving commander was detained by the security forces. The sources said that the arrest of the suspect was made on the basis of input given by local intelligence agencies. On the bases of the statement of informer, security forces who have no recent picture of 52 year old wanted Hizb militant conducted some clinical test on him and it is said that the investigation conducted by the various agencies hinted that the suspect presently with security forces is JhangirSaroori wanted by the security forces, however the final call on identity of the suspected will be taken only after DGP's schedule visit to Kishtwar on Thursday. During his visit to Kishtwar. As per the records available with various security agencies, Jahangir first joined militancy ranks in 1989, but his name first surfaced in 1992. Soon after joining militancy, he crossed over to Pakistan for Arms training and in last 25 year, he was involved in several incidents including the killings of security forces. The security forces trapped him in Kidroo area of Chicha in 2007 but he managed to give a slip. Security forces also have no input about his bodyguard Raiz Ahmed since last 5 years. His name also surfaced in Delhi High Court blast almost three years ago. |
