Jammu, June 24: A special squad of Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) under the supervision of NishaNathyal SSP (Vigilance), caught one Junior Engineer PMGSY Division Billawar of Kathua district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.1.00 lakh from the contractor (name withheld) in lieu of preparing pending bills for Rs 35 Lakhs for a construction work. "The accused have been identified namely as Mohammad Younis, posted as Junior Engineer with PMGSY Division Billawar of Kathua district," official spokesperson said.' Official spokesperson said that based on complaint of a complainant (a contractor) with Vigilance Organization Jammu therein alleging that one Mohammad Younis Junior Engineer PMGSY Division Billawar is demanding Rs 1.00 lakh as bribe for preparation of pending bills amounting to Rs15.00 lakh for the work namely construction of road from Ther to Ghat in Billawar, Kathua executed by the complainant. "The total cost of construction of the road was 50.00 lacs out of which 35.00 lacs have already been released to the contractor, he added. Subsequently a case against FIR No: 20/2014 P/S VOJ was registered and investigation in this regard is further taken up. Spokesperson said that a trap team led by VK Bhat, DySP and assisted by Inspector Muneer Ahmad Khan and Inspector Devinder Singh was constituted under the direct supervision NishaNathyal SSP and a trap was laid to nab the abovementioned accused. "During the trap the tainted money was recovered from the possession of accused in presence of independent witnesses and the accused was taken into custody for further investigation. |
