| PDP protests against failure of coalition Govt to resolve public issues | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 24: Irked with the power cuts and water crises and failure of the coalition government to resolve the issues of public and promoting political corruption, hundreds of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers today protested in Jammu. The protesters, led by Vice President T S Bajwa, Sr leader Ved Mahajan, Daman Bhasin, Ch Hussain Ali Waffa, S Jagjeet Singh Jagga and district Jammu President R L Bali.During the protest the party workers raised slogans against the Congress-NC coalition government and PDD and PHE departments. "The unscheduled power cuts started immediately after the darbar move the government is unconcerned about the welfare of the public in this sweltering heat and is mindful of its own comforts and wellbeing," Bajwa said. He said the entire Jammu region has been facing scarcity of drinking water but the state government is adopting casual approach towards this unending problem. Bajwa said instead of resolving public grievances NC led govt is indulged in promoting political corruption. He said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's admission, that the BJP legislators bargained and voted for National Conference (NC) candidates in 2011 polls for 6 Legislative Council seats, has brought out the fact that how NC is having a simultaneous alliance with Congress and BJP in the State. He said Chief Minister's revelation about bargaining by BJP legislators also points to the disturbing fact that how political corruption is being promoted by this government at the highest levels. "PDP has right from the beginning maintained that while NC is having an overt coalition with the Congress in the State, it is enjoying a covert alliance with BJP simultaneously," Bajwa said while addressing the protesting workers. "Doesn't Omar Abdullah's admission to purchase BJP votes make it a fit case of corruption against not only those who got the money, but also those who paid it for buying votes," Bajwa said and added that it has been NC's trait, right from the beginning, to misuse the state and its official organs for power. He said had such a thing happened in any other state, the culprits, howsoever powerful, would have been behind the bars, "but unfortunately the rule of law could never cross the Lakhanpur Toll Post to make the individuals and institutions accountable in J&K." "This is one of the primary reasons why people in J&K have least faith in the institutions of governance and the democratic system," Bajwa said. |
