JAMMU, June 23: Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla in Punjab clinched the 118th Annual Ravta dangal title after he defeated Pardeep of Patiala in a closely contested bout held at Ravta in tehsil and district Jammu. Winner and runner-up wrestlers of the main bout were awarded with cash prize of Rs 25,000 and Rs 12,000 respectively by chief guest, BSP leader, Rakesh Wazir and president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and president of RAvta Dangal Committee, Sham Lal Sharma. Dangal was organized by Ravta Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association. Around 76 wrestlers from within and outside state participated in this day-long dangal and contested in 40 bouts. The second main bout won by Benia of J&K Police, who defeated Rinka of Patiala while third bout wetn to Kaka of RS Pura after he defeated Bobri of Sarore. Fourth bout secured by Roshan Lal Sharma, who beat Farooq of Sarore. Members of organizing committee and technical officials, who helped for the smooth conduct of this dangal, included Sham Lal Sharma, Mohd. Anwar Khan, Panch Raj Paul Kesar, Naib Sarpanch Krishan Gopal Sharma, Panch Subash Chander, Som Dutt, BittuRaina, Mulk Raj Sharma, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Mohd. Fareed, Shamsher Singh, Allah Mai (Ranga), Mulk Raj Sharma, Murli Dhar (Munna) and Manjoor Hussian. Chib beat FCC in Chevrolet Cup Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 23: Chib Cricket Club today registered a superb six wickets win over Friends Cricket Club (FCC) to consolidate their position in the league round of the ongoing Chevrolet Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at KC Public School, here. Batting first, FCC made 142 runs losing all their wickets in 19.1 overs. Chotu played fine innings of 65 runs while Raju and Vivek contributed 20 runs each. From Chib Club, Sahil and Sandeep Saini shared three wickets each while Love Chib bagged two. In reply, Chib Club attained the goal in 15.5 overs making 143 runs losing four wickets. Love Chib (33), Babbu (30), Tarun (29) and Ajay (25) made valuable contributions thus helped the side win the match. From FCC, Raju took two wickets, followed by Vivek and Manik, who shared apiece each. Love Chib was declared man of the match for his all round performance.
Solo exhibition of eminent artist M Akram Khan Inaugurated at AMML

Jammu, June 24: Three day long solo exhibition of recent paintings by reputed artist of the state M Akram Khan was inaugurated at Basement art gallery of Amar Mahal Museum and Library (AMML) Hari Palace Jammu here today. The exhibition was organized in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and shall remain open tillJune 26. Minster for Housing, Culture, Horticulture, Youth Service and Sports, Raman Bhalla was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while SohailKazmiSr Journalist and Gen Secretary Press Club Jammu presided over the function and Smt Vijay Laxmi Sharma Joint Secretary JKBOSE attended occasion as guest of honour. M Akram Khan versatile artist of the state of J&K as painter, actor, director and theatrist and carved a good niche in the state art realm. Hailing from Reasi, Akram did MA, BEd. from Jammu University, besides a Degree in Painting from PKK Chandigarh. M Akram's paintings show love, nature, rural life and sensibility of the synergy between man, woman and environment. He used local elements in abstract form like, leaves, stone, flowers, insets, local objects water etc. Khan has many awards including 4 (four) times best tableaux award, 2011 to 14, Indian Academy of Fine Arts Amritsar-12, Camlin Award J&K State Exhibition 2004-05 and 2006-07, best painting award from 1st international Art, plus Germany-2002, Golden Jubilee Art Exhibition Jammu 1992 in his credit. He also had participated in all India and national Art Camp/workshops at Hyaderabad , Bhubaneshwar, Orissa, Haryana, srinager, Delhi, Amritsar Chandigarh, Pune, ladakh, Sikkem, sanasar, rajouri, Jammu, ,Mansar, Patnitop, etc Among others present on the occasion included Prof Neelu Gupta, Madam Raj Bharti, O P Sharma, InduBushan Sharma, S K Raina Field Advisor SIE and Romesh Singh Director BKS.
GHSS Khellani organizes programme on clean environment

DODA, June 24: Government Higher Secondary School, Khellani today organized a programme on clean environment The programme was conducted in three phases including a rally with slogans and banners, was taken out in first phase. In second phase, a cleanliness drive in the school premises and nearby lanes approaching school was conducted while in third phase a debate programme was organized wherein students highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness for a healthy environment.

JAMMU, June 23: Sailing on superb bowling spell from Raman Dutta, Azad Club today registered big eight-wicket win against Singh Cricket Club (SCC) to qualify for the next round of quarterfinals in the ongoing Titu Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Model School ground, Satwari, here. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Singh Club could make 92 runs when all their wickets fell in 16.3 overs. Parnam remained top scorer with 42 runs while Raman contributed 13 runs to the total. From Azad Club, Raman Dutta bowled excellent spell taking away three wickets. Manik, Surinder and Vishal shared two wickets each. In reply, Azad Club chased the target making 97 runs in 8.4 overs for two wickets. Jatin made highest 22 runs while Ashwin and Shinku added 22 and 16 runs respectively. Shakeel bagged both the wickets lost by Azad Club. Later, for his three wickets haul, Raman Dutta was named man of the match.
NASA meet held at SMVDU

Jammu, June 24: National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA, India) meet held at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. Around 250 delegates from over 110 architectural colleges attended the meet. On the first day, the event was inaugurated by honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir K Jain in the presence of Faculty coordinator Ar. Abhiney Gupta and other dignitaries of SMVDU. It featured launching of NASA's first newsletter of this year- Thought | Paper | Scissors with the theme of Transformation. NASA is the largest fraternity of undergraduate students of architecture across Asia. It provides a platform for young minds to express themselves on global scale. The "first council meet" which is the foremost event of NASA involves a meeting of the college representatives from different architectural institutions in India associated with NASA. Discussions on various topics, proposals and functioning of the association are the key objectives of the meet. In addition, the new collaboration of NASA with Archidesign, Walkthrough Design etc. were introduced along with the few additions in the website.
