| DGP visits Poonch, Rajouri; interacts with officers, addresses cops | | Assembly polls would be a challenge, they have to work in coordination with other agencies | | Early Times Report
Rajouri/Poonch, June 24 : In order to assess security, law and order scenario in Poonch and Rajouri, Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar today visited twin border districts of Jammu province and interacted with the police officers and said that upcoming assembly polls would be a challenge and they (security forces) have to work with more zeal and commitment in coordination among other agencies to provide congenial atmosphere in the state During his visit to twin districts, DGP K Rajindra chaired meeting of officers and stressed upon them for greater synergy among all stake holders to serve the people in a better way. Speaking in these meetings top brass of police said that service of the people is our motto and congenial atmosphere is necessary for providing justice and police service. Saying that security of the people is among the top responsibility of the Jammu and Kashmir Police for which we have to ensure peace and order in the State. "All nefarious designs of law breakers needs to be curbed strictly, he said and cautioned 'Khakhi' personnel while dealing with any situation, it should be ensured that common masses are not harassed. The DGP emphasized that continues vigil needs to be maintained, taking the people into confidence, to curb the activities of criminals. "Our fight against crime would continue and for this purpose strenuous efforts have been put in place, besides adopting the latest techniques of crime detection and investigation," he said. Top police brass also addressed police meetings in the twin districts and asked the cops to perform selflessly within the ambit of law of land. He said that Jammu and Kashmir police from the date of its establishment has been remained on forefront in providing the professional police service and with the changing global scenario our responsibilities have enhanced. "Besides providing security and peace to the people we have to also deal with the social evils which have affected our youth," he said. He also asked his team that mass awareness need to be created about drug abuses and other evils. The DGP stressed upon the jawans and officers to prefer public service on their personal comforts. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police by the dint of its dedication has made the nation proud and we have to keep it up in the future facing any emerging odd situation. Complementing the cops for their role in years of turmoil, the DGP said that the conduct of recent Lok Sabha election in a peaceful atmosphere was among our achievements. Upcoming Assembly Election would be a challenge for the force and they have to work with more zeal and commitment in coordination among other agencies to provide congenial atmosphere in the state. He said that Police Headquarters have been implementing various welfare schemes to benefit the police personnel and their families. SPOs are an important component of the organization who have been sharing their responsibilities' at every front of policing. "We are aware of their hardship and enhancement in their remuneration has been raised with the government vigorously," the DGP added. During the visit the DGP was accompanied by IGP Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar and DIG Rajouri Poonch Range, A K Atri, SP Rajouri Mubassir Latifi, SP Poonch Shamsher Hussain. |
