POONCH, June 24: After a long gap of eight years the new body of district Sanatan Dharam Sabha Poonch has been elected in the general elections held here.
The elections were conducted by Sanatan Dharam Sabha Poonch under the presidentship of Prof S D Sharma.
The Poonch town was divided into 10 sectors from where 3470 voters out of 5900 belonging to Sanatan Dharam participated and casted their votes.Total 23 candidates were in fray for 10 sectors which was comprised of 17 Municipal wards.
Satish Sasan Ex secretary Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha was declared elected as present of SD Sabha Poonch with huge margin. He defeated his nearest rival D N Raina with the margin of nearly 1500 votes. The other ten members declared elected which included Ramesh Bali, Jeetan Sharma, Bhupinder Singh, Ajay Kumar Uttam, Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Sanjiv Kapoor, Hardev Lal, Devinder Sharma, Satish Kumar and Bhagat Raj Bali.
Ten more members will be nominated by the President from various sections of Sanatan Dharam and the total strength of the managing body would be 21.District administration Poonch had deployed 5 Magistrates for the election process which included Tehsildar Haveli, DFO Ram Ratan Sharma, Dr Bhalla Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, CHO Poonch and Dy Registrar Cooperatives Poonch Jagdish Singh. |
