The meeting was convened to review the measures for the comfortable conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra at Udhampur town and its outskirts on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Mohd Suleman Choudhary, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mr. N.S Jamwal, Chief Medical Officer, District Information Officer, Dr. Ashwani Hansa, Engineers of PWD, PHE, PDD, Tehsildars, other officers, prominent citizens and Banquet hall owners attended the meeting. Threadbare discussion on various arrangements including provision for drinking water, power supply, Medicare, sanitation, construction of temporary toilets, transport, traffic regulation, security and accommodation came under the discussion in the meeting. The meeting observed that in the event of bad weather or blockade of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway during yatra days, there was every possibility that pilgrims might have to stay in Udhampur for which the arrangements to accommodate them would be jointly made by the district administration, NGOs and banquet hall owners of the town.
