| People stage protest against erratic water supply, block NHW | | | Early Times Report
SAMBA, June 24 : People of main bazar Samba held a strong protest against PHE department over shortage of drinking water in several wards of the town.
Shouting slogans against PHE department, the protesting people said that department has failed to provide adequate drinking water to Samba town and its peripheries.
The people blocked the Jammu-Pathankot national highway near samba and disrupted vehicular movement for more than half an hour on the ever busy road. Demanding restoration of drinking water supply, the agitated people including men, women and children sat on dharna on the road demanding restoration of drinking water supply. The protestors alleged that they did not receive water supply for the last seven days due to which people are suffering a lot.
The locals said that they approached the PHE officials several time but department did not take any action to regulate the water supply.They said that due to official apathy and corruption, the people of Samba are suffering on account of non-availability of drinking water. |
