Jammu, June 24: Asserting that he will work for the cause for the development and cause of people including refugees, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said that he is committed to resolving the issues of the refugees stranded in Jammu region for the last several decades. Dr Singh said this while responding to a demand made in this regard by Dineshwar Singh Jamwal, President of the Duggar Vikas Manch during a "Samman Samaroh" (felicitation function) organized by the Duggar Vikas Manch. Expressing his heartfelt compassion to Refugees, he said that the condition of the West Pakistan refugees is particularly precarious because they have been denied rights, unfairly, by successive state governments. He stressed that he will work for the resolution of the problems faced by different types of refugees. At a ``Samman Samaroh'' (felicitation function) organized by the Duggar Vikas Manch, Dr Singh was honoured by several non-political, social and cultural organizations of Jammu. Speaking about the demand raised by people from the Ladakh region for setting up a university there, Dr Singh said that at this juncture it may not be a practical or viable solution. However, he said that setting up an outreach campus of a central university may meet immediate needs of the region and assured to work for facilitating this in the near future. In his speech, Dr Jitendra Singh emphasized that he is acutely aware of the problems being faced by the people and work to the best of his capacity for redressing them. Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma in his brief address assured the people of Jammu that that they will do their best effort for fulfilling the demands raised in the memorandum of Duggar Vikas Manch and assured all possible support for fulfilling them.
