Srinagar, June 24 : Mehbooba Mufti, President Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Member Parliament criticized the state government for the latest causality in Sopore on Tuesday saying that it seems Kashmir is being turned into a 'breeding ground for the violence'. As per sources, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti while addressing media persons at her official residence in Gupkar today said that there is a general concern about the violence taking place in Iraq, Afghanistan and its impact in Jammu and Kashmir. "Incident in Tral, or the latest incidents in Sopore many families have come forward to put it on record that their educated wards were forced to pick up the gun. "It is because of police torture, harassment that they say that their children pick up the gun, she said adding, "such a situation is being created that it seems that we are pushing Kashmiris towards the path of violence." "Everybody among us should be concerned that it is happening because of the policies of the present dispensation for the last few years. Kashmiris have suffered a lot. I don't think that such innocent killings are not taking place and inquiries and probes are being ordered, she added."The security forces should have shown restraint. It's unfortunate that this government ordered several inquiries into such incidents, but till date no action was taken," said Mehbooba. Referring to local issues like water electricity, and ration problem she said, "The government should ensure availability for ration, water, and electricity at least during the month of Ramadan. At least government should ensure availability of power supply and drinking water," she said |
