BARAMULLA, July 7: Residents of Kreeri and its adjoining areas in this north Kashmir district are up in arms against the Roads and Buildings department for ignoring the local roads. The road stretches from Choora National Highway to Kreeri, which connects more than 20 villages including Kreeri to Choora via Authoora, Bangdara, Hail, Thindima, Saloosa, Dardapora, and other adjoining areas are in dilapidated condition. Local resident of Authoora, Mohammad Shafi, said, "The R&B department seems to be in deep slumber. The money provided by government of India under various schemes got lapsed several times due to poor utilization." "R&B department hardly bothers about these roads. See the shabby condition of the roads with potholes in the middle. Our children and elderly people are ailing because of the dust rising from these dirty roads. Every day we see vehicles suffering damage after hitting these potholes," the residents said. They said that it takes around one hour from Kreeri to Choora, which otherwise could be covered in 20 minutes. "Black topping of roads was never done from Kreeri to Choora," the residents said. Meanwhile, local residents of Kreeri tehsil in Sangrama constituency appealed their MLA and Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Basharat Ahmad Bukhari to address their grievances without further delay. "We only see politicians at the time of elections. During electioneering they promise moon but fail to even provide us bijli, sadak and paani," the residents said. "The MLA is appealed to visit Kreeri, his native tehsil, and have firsthand experience of the bad condition of the roads," they said.
