Early Times Report
Jammu, July 7: The present dispensation of Mufti led coalition government has shown courage to 'terminate' deadwood from the government departments but the matter of concern is that corrupt officials whose names should have figured in the first list of deadwood are not there which has raised eyebrows over the conduct of the concerned authorities. Sending a clear and loud message to corrupt officials serving in different departments, the government said corrupt elements won't be tolerated and must be shown the door. CAPD department has the dubious distinction of being infamous for scams vis-à-vis ration scam, carriage scam, pilferage of ration etc. The so called officers who are behind these scams are enjoying plum postings and making fortunes in the department and have been left untouched. Only four officers of CAPD have figured in the first list. Tainted officer having vigilance case in FIR NO 19/2012 the then TSO (Tehsil supply officer) Sungri/chassana posted as I/C AD Kishtwar presently from I/ C AD (Trade and stores) and another officer then AD Reasi have been booked for misappropriation and fake withdrawal of Rs 66.19 lakh and has been placed as the I/C AD (Supplies). Reliable sources said those involved in the alleged Rs 30 cr transhipment scam at Udhampur had also managed good postings for them. Another tainted officer, a senior assistant, and others have booked in case FIR NO 14/2006. The case is under investigation for the last 9 years and this is transferred from I/C AD Reasi to AD Enforcement (Directorate of CAPD JAMMU) and this same official was then AD Rajouri allegedly being involved in multi -crore carriage scam. Sources revealed there is an official, who was appointed under SRO 43 as junior assistant and being influential he got promoted to the post of TSO in flagrant violation of norms, was also alleged to have massed wealth through illegal means. The question here is why these tainted and influential officials are not being touched and termed as dead wood. It's a litmus test for the government to set an example for others by showing the door to corrupt officers so that other serving officers think twice before resorting to the corrupt practices. |
