GAD has been asked to convey to Law Department to look into the matter and fix the officials responsible for breaching the government order. Sources within the GAD said following reports coming to fore about a sizable number of people having been engaged as consolidated workers, the Chief Secretary is learnt to have taken serious note of the matter and directed the Secretary to act fast before the developments could turn embarrassing for the government . The direction to GAD has come also to send a stern message to all the government departments, Assembly Secretariat in particular that government order for disengagement and ban on such appointments is applicable to all the departments and institutions including autonomous bodies, sources said adding that timely action this time is meant to convey no institution or authorities at the helm were above the order nor could they act against its spirit. Sources further said Law department being the administrative department of the state Legislature that governs its functioning, it has been asked to look into the matter before it could initiate a formal probe and act against those responsible for taking at least two dozen people as Daily wagers. While the matter has caused ripples in the administrative echelons, sources said engagement of workers in violation of norms has raised a storm within the BJP, partner in the alliance government also in the wake of the fact that people have been taken in pick and choose manner by the authorities at the helm. Hullaballoo over the matter has not just confined to discontent but some senior leaders are learnt to have conveyed it through a proper letter to New Delhi contending the party's image was getting dented with such acts, it being equally responsible for breaching rules and orders issued by the government. The intimation to Law department by GAD is likely to be followed by some concrete action which will be governed under Civil Services rules, sources said adding that the government doesn't want the matter to snowball into controversy like it faced over backdoor appointments case. |
