Jammu, July 7: Government Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu today conducted a special event on "Digital India" here at college premises. According to press release, the main aim of the programme is to create "Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen", "Governance and Services on Demand" and "Digital Empowerment of Citizens". During the programme the faculty and staff of the College exchanged their views on the scope of information and communication technology (ICT). Faculty of the College emphasized on the creating awareness and access to the students to the e-resource available in the College. New ideas such as providing the students and faculty access to high speed internet facility through Wi-Fi within the College campus, digitizing he College administration and optical fiber networking of the College for high speed and reliable access to internet. The initiative of the college for introduction of online admission and online academic arrangement process from 2013-14 and its benefits to the students of far flung area was appreciated. Dr, Ashok Kumar, Dr. Ravender Tickoo, Prof. Ranjeet Singh Jamwal, Dr. Sunil Gupta , Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. P. Bambroo, Prof. Rakesh Gupta along with others were present on the occasion. |
