Early Times Report

Jammu, July 7: Referring to Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh's statement saying setting up of AIIMS in Jammu will made as per promise, chairman of AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) and president JKHCBA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma today said the people of the region will appreciate the BJP if these words were translated into a definite action on the ground latest by July 20.
The people of Jammu region are interested in a definite action on the ground and not in words, he said, adding that the BJP would do well to read the writing on the wall. The BJP would be playing with fire in Jammu in case the written assurance was not honoured within the stipulated period," he warned. "People of Jammu region are fed up with false promises and the politics of discrimination against Jammu region being indulged in by the Kashmiri leadership and its Jammu-based lackeys. They are no longer prepared to accept the life of subordination and servitude, he said in a press statement.
Sharma expressed the hope that during scheduled meeting at New Delhi on July 12 between the central BJP leadership and J&K BJP leaders, the latter would take up the Jammu cause in right earnest and apprise the high command of the situation prevailing in Jammu region in the wake of the shifting of the proposed AIIMS for Jammu to Kashmir. The mind-boggling decision has shocked and angered the people of Jammu region, he said, and added that the decision, if not reversed, would jeopardize the electoral interests of the BJP to the extent none in the BJP could ever imagine. The BJP would be a gainer if the promise was delivered on or before July 20, he said. Abhinav Sharma also reiterated that the ACC is committed to getting AIIMS established in Jammu at all costs and reassured the people that it will go to any extent to achieve its stated goals. He expressed thanks to the people for the trust they have reposed in the ACC and pledged that ACC will not allow any power to again let down the region.
