Jammu, July 7: Shastri Cricket Club today defeated J&K Police XI by four wickets to keep their hopes alive in the ongoing Monsoon Tri-Series Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College ground, here.
Earlier, batting first, JKP XI made 110 runs in 29.5 overs of the 35 overs game. Rajesh Gill (22), Ram Dayal (19), and Sunil Sambyal (16) were main scorers. From Shastri, Vishal Singh emerged as most successful bowler, who took five wickets. Vishal Rana and Avesh Sharma shared two wickets each.
In reply, Shastri Club attained the goal of 111 runs in 31.3 overs losing six wickets. Bunty remained highest scorer with 37 runs while Amit Sharma added valuable 27. Honey contributed 22 runs to the team's total. From JKP XI, Rajesh Gill, Pankaj and Sahil shared two wickets each. Vishal Singh later adjudged man of the match.
The organizing committee of this tournament included Parshotam Sharma, Hilal Rather, Ashash Sharma, RP Singh, Rajesh Dhar, Asif Gill, David Mattoo and Suhail.
