| Distt Development Board meets merely an 'eye-wash': Former Dy CM | | | EarlyTimes Report
Khour, July 7: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand today described recently held District Development Board meeting of district Jammu as mere eyewash and a cruel joke with the people especially living in remote and border belts. Addressing the party workers meet here today presided over by Block Congress Committee, Khour president Thakur Suram Singh, the former deputy chief minister Tara Chand pointed out that during the recently held District Development Board meeting here in Jammu, the coalition government announced that the government has sanctioned the building for the government Degree College, Khour. "It is shocking to see such an announcement as the fact is that the College building is already in existence and will shortly be completed. But the fact is that the Government College, Khour is working since last three years and the students have qualified their three year Graduation course at Khour," highlighted Tara Chand while lambasting BJP for misinformation campaign. Coming down heavily on BJP led NDA government at center for its failure in providing adequate compensation to the victims of floods/rains occurred the previous year, former deputy chief minister Tara Chand said that the people of the area are the sufferers from the flash flood of September 2014 and lost their livings including the animals due to the flood and the government has not bothered to look in to their genuine demands of compensation on the pattern of Kashmir. The government has even failed to get the survey of the same through the government agencies to prepare the estimated cost of the loss of property and animals and crops also. He also raised the issue of border migrants issue who are suffering since 1999 (Kargil War) following mining in border areas the farmers could not cultivate their fields, which is only source of their bread and butter. Meanwhile challenging the government claims in the recently held Board Meeting, Tara Chand claimed that "the government has shown many projects like bridges and roads as fresh in the Meeting but reality is other way round as the said projects are already existing and some of them are on the verge of near completion. We are apprehending large scale misuse of funds under the garb of showing the already completed projects as new one. Furthermore, the present regime is hell bent to erode the powers vested with Panchayats. Congress has always strived for strengthening the democratic institutions like Panchayats at the grass root level but the PDP-BJP coalition instead of further strengthening Panchayati Raj is making moves to erode the sanctity of such institutions. " Later, the Block Congress Committee Khour, headed by former deputy chief minister Tara Chand and BCC president Thakur Suram Singh staged a protest march and submitted a memorandum to Governor through Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Khour, highlighting anti-people policies of PDP-BJP coalition government. |
