With Rs 5 lakh police has "closed" Tarseem's murder case but Giri's family still screaming for justice
Dalit organisations fume over police's atrocities on community youth
6/24/2015 1:06:56 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Dalit organisations fume over gruesome murder of a youth Tarseem Lal facing charge of narcotic smuggling, who was allegedly killed by five policemen of Special Operation Group (SoG) of J&K Police on Sunday. While as the helpless family members of Rakesh Singh Giri, another Dalit youth who was killed by police in fake encounter on November 21, 2010, are moving from pillar to post to get justice, the "brave" cops of J&K police have gunned down another Dalit boy in the name of encounter. Dalit organisations have reasons to fume because nearly four and half years have passed but nothing has been done to provide justice to the family members of Giri. In the meantime police has alleged killed another youth of the depressed community. With the intervention of Social Welfare and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat five police of SOG have been arrested for killing Tarsem Lal but justice still eludes to the poor family of Giri. Police fired on a youth identified as Tarseem Lal, involved in narcotics smuggling, when he tried to escape after his arrest in Domana ...

For a change Mirwaiz plays 'Good Boy', stays away from protests
Hurriyat M cadres act more loyal than the king, face detention
6/24/2015 1:06:46 AM
Early Times Report srinagar, June 23: Acting more loyal than the King, the cadres of Hurriyat Conference-M might have planned to visit restive Kulgam over killing of two militants and a civilian there and got detained midway, but their Chairman and senior separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq volunteered to stay away from the protests and enjoyed freedom. This is not any hypothetical assumption but the crux of two back-to- back statements issued by the Hurriyat Conference-M today. One handout said Hurriyat M leaders were put under house arrest, otherwise they would have visited Kulgam to protest the killing of "freedom fighters (militants)". But the other handout said that Mirwaiz was fr...

The inaccessible BJP ministers!
6/24/2015 1:06:28 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: The J&K BJP leaders, who before becoming MLAs and then ministers, would feel honoured to speak to journalists, nowadays take pride in ignoring them. They have changed a lot since March 1 last when the BJP-PDP government was formed in the state after initial hiccups. They wilfully do not attend the journalists' phone calls and at times put them on hold. It seems as if they have developed an obsessive attachment to the feeling that the scribes are unworthy of their attention. But it was not the case before they became ministers over three months back. Before the conduct of state polls last year, they would even discuss their party matters with scribes and ...

BJP MLAs say review agenda of alliance, Madhav says implement it
Genuine concern
6/24/2015 1:05:50 AM
ET Report Jammu, June 23: No one had expected that the BJP MLAs would muster courage to air their opposition to the "pernicious" agenda of alliance in the presence of its architect Ram Madhav, party national general secretary and in-charge J&K, but very surprisingly it happened on Monday, when the RSS ideologue held meetings with party ministers, MLAs and party office-bearers in Jammu. They reportedly did muster courage and condemned the agenda of alliance. They condemned the agenda of alliance in the manner the outraged nationalist camp in J&K had been condemning it ever since it was made public in Jammu on March 1 and demanded its review. The BJP MLAs, as per many insiders, not just con...

6/24/2015 1:04:24 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) was established in the state decades ago. It braches were established in all the three regions of the state - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Its stated objective was to promote the state's art, culture and languages. The aim was novel. However, it is difficult to say if the JKAACL has been able to achieve its objective. On the other hand, it can be said that JKAACL, Kashmir, instead of promoting art, culture and languages, has been promoting anti-India sentiments in the Valley. It is not an overstatement; it is a statement of fact. That it has turned out to be an academy of anti-Indians and ant...
