Vaishno Devi pilgrimage to remain suspended | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 22: Pilgrimage on new track to world famous Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine will remain suspended for two days from today in view of cleanliness drive, official sources here said. ''Yatra will remain suspended for two days on Battery Car track on October 22 and 23 in view of cleanliness drive to be launched on the track besides repairing of shooting stones prone areas,'' an official here said. He said as the yatra has been diverted, the pilgrims are asked to pay obeisance at the cave shrine and perform pilgrimage through old and traditional route. "Following fresh landslides and shooting stones en route Bhawan in the recent past wherein some casualities were also reported, a team of experts conducted a survey and submitted its report to the Board," said the official. He said immediate repair of areas prone to landslides was sought besides cleanliness drive in view of upcoming Navratra festival starting from October 1. An unprecedented rush of pilgrims is recorded every year during Navratras at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. In August this year, over six lakh pilgrims had paid obeisance at the cave shrine. |
