Terrorist killed in Bandipora | Army foils infiltration bids in Nowgam sector | | S Tahir-ulHaq
Baramulla, Sept 22: A terrorist was killed in an encounter in Bandipora district of north Kashmir on Thursday. A senior police official said that on specific information, a joint team of army and police's Special Operation Group (SOG) cordoned Argam area of Bandipora. The official said thatone militantwas killed in the ensuing encounter. Army has surrounded adjacent villages in a bid to track few more Terrorists who are believed to be holed up in the area. The local populace of Argam, Chapran and Gujarpati areas blocked the road for several hours demanding the dead body of the militant. Forces used teargas shells to disperse the mob that were chanting pro-freedom slogans in front of the army camp, said sources. They said that dozens of civilians were also injured during the clashes. Meanwhile a top army official said that two infiltration bids were foiled today by the army in Nowgam sector of Handwara area in north Kashmir. Two groups of heavily armed Terrorists tried to cross the LoC but were pushed back to the other side in Nowgam sector, the official added. |
