Kashmiri Pandits employees take out protest rally in Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 22: Protesting Kashmiri Pandit employees today took out a massive rally here seeking intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in absorbing them in various government departments in Jammu following alleged stone pelting by mobs on their transit camps in the Valley. All Migrant Employees Association Kashmir (AMEAK) took out the peaceful rally in which children of the protesting employees also participated with their parents claiming their education has been affected due to the shift to Jammu. Holding banners and placards in their hands, the employees gathered at Jammu Press Club and staged a strong demonstration. As the protest entered the 70th day, more than 1,600 displaced Kashmiri Hindu employees, including women and children, continued their 'dharna' at the Relief Commissioners Office (RCO) and raised slogans against the state and the central governments. Majority of the protesting Kashmiri Pandits were given jobs under the Prime Ministers Rehabilitation Package for the Kashmiri Migrants. They claim that the package was implemented in haste without taking various factors into consideration. Making an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to concede their demands, the employees stated that they are pinning their hopes on the BJP-PDP leadership for redressal of their problems. |
