Jammu, Sept 22: Two minutes silence to pay homage to the Martyrs of Uri attack including Havaldar Madan Lal from Pathankot who laid down his life on 20 Sep 2016 when 10 Militants were killed on LOC on 20 Sep 2016 was held by the Executive Committee of J&K Ex-Services League under its President, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, AVSM, Ex-MLC. The members felt that it should be the last time and no more such fidayeen attacks should be tolerated for which they felt that the Govt. should abrogate the Indus Water Treaty as Country is losing Rs 20 crore annually on Power Generation and other Rs 30 Crore on losses to agriculture produce. Pakistan must be punished for this cowardly attack. The meeting was informed that the Phalsa (Grewia Asiatica) programme has fructified into a project 'JAG' (Jammu Kashmir Arogya Gram Yogna) worth Rs 18 crores, presently being implemented under which Aromatic Plants are being planted like Lavender, Geranium, Monarda, Lemon Grass and Phalsa etc. in whole of Jammu region. The farmers are provided total planting material free of cost and product is buy back with Minimum Assured Price (MAP). By now more than 3 Lakh Lavender has been planted in Udhampur, Doda and Kishtwar Districts. Based on Phalsa Tetra Pack success story under which 1.25 Lakh Tetra Packs Indus Berry were sold from Sea Buck Thorn (Leh Berry) produced by IIIM which are now selling in Leh like hot cakes. Encouraged from the success of JAAG, Govt. of India has conceived another Project 'National Aroma Mission' for whole of India. J&K is also a beneficiary where 5000 acres have been sanctioned and the Project is being launched by the Prime Minister, Mr. Modi on 26 Sep 2016from Delhi and Jammu. J&K Ex-Services League and J&K Paryavaran (Environment) Sanstha in collaboration with IIIM are going to participate in the execution of the Project for the benefit of Farmers and Ex-Servicemen for which about 100 Ex-Servicemen farmers from all the Districts of Jammu are invited to attend the inaugural function on 26 Sep 2016 at Chatha Farm for which the invitees will be provided transport and arrangements of their stay in Jammu will be made by IIIM.
