Jammu, Jan 27: Giving further fillip to expansion of education infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has sanctioned eleven more Degree Colleges for the state.
According to an official spokesman, this significant decision was announced during a high-level meeting the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had with the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Arjun Singh, in New Delhi today.

''After working on various theories, police today solved the mysterious murder of the BSF jawan and arrested his wife and son-in-law of the BSF jawan, who had come on leave to his native place and was found dead on January 25,'' sources said.

Jammu, Jan 27: An officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police was suspended after the tricolor failed to unfurl in time during the flag hoisting ceremony on the 60th Republic Day function in Poonch district yesterday, official sources here today said.
Despite several attempts made by the Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, who was the chief guest on the occasion, the Tricolor failed to unfurl and the pole on which the flag was placed came down during the function, sources said, adding that the hoisting ceremony got delayed and the flag was unfurled later.

Chandigarh, Jan 26: The Mumbai ATS revealed on Tuesday that Saji Mohan, the senior IPS officer who was arrested in Mumbai on the charge of selling heroin might have been involved in large scale smuggling of drugs as the heroin recovered from him is of Afghani origin. The involvement of some of Saji’s colleagues is also being alleged by the ATS.

New Delhi, Jan 27: Going against Indonesia's ban on Muslims practicing yoga, India's best known Islamic seminary says there is nothing wrong with any exercise done for health reasons.
Clerics at the highly revered seminary in Deoband town in Uttar Pradesh said that yoga was fine as long as no non-Islamic religious rituals were involved.
“Islam does not prohibit anyone from practicing yoga or any other kind of physical exercise. Only thing is that with what belief you are doing it...
