| State Govt disregards PM's assurances | | | | Bivek Mathur
Jammu, Jan 5: The words of Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, it seems hardly make any sense for the Jammu and Kashmir government especially Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Minister for Culture Raman Bhalla as the state is yet to decide on his suggestion to establish a cultural centre in Jammu and Kashmir.
One could easily gauge the respect for the words of Prime Minister of India by the state Minister and Chief Minister also by the fact that in the year 2010 in between June 7 to 8, Manmohan Singh made an announcement to establish cultural centres in Jammu and Kashmir for the safeguard of distinct tribal culture and tribal communities including Gujjars, Bakerwals and P...
| | | | NC's propaganda of PDP- BJP alliance smashed | | | | early times report
Jammu, Dec 5: PDP has ruled out any alliance with the BJP. It had said both parties have divergent views on Art 370 and there can't be any meeting point between them.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti had said while her party stands for self-rule, resolution of Kashmir problem, BJP has an aversion to Art 370 and thus there can't be any meeting point between two parties.
Mehbooba Mufti's statement has scotched rumors that PDP was getting close to BJP. The propaganda of PDP coming close to BJP has been started by National Conference and is consistently propagating it especially in Valley, where it (NC) believes that BJP is most hated party.
The categorical statement on thi...

| | | | Should J&K rulers worry about Kejriwal or themselves? | | | | early times report
Jammu, Jan 5: State CM Omar Abdullah has given some good advice to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Omar Abdullah has said Kejriwal should not bother about whether he stays in a 5-bedroom flat or elsewhere. Instead, Kejriwal should concentrate on delivering on his election promises.
The advice is well-timed and well thought, but the problem is that the advice is required more by the giver than the one it is intended for. The promises of the NC-Congress coalition government in the State are still to be fulfilled while the 6-year term of the coalition government is now barely nine months to end.
Kejriwal has delivered at least two of his most spoken about promises made during ...

While as separatists in Kashmir Valley have reasons to appreciate emergence on AAP in political scenario because ideologue of AAP Prashant Bhushan and some other leaders of the party are known for supporting the cause of separatists. But some people in Jammu region...

Jammu, Jan 5 : The dramatic rise of Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi elections may or may not have an impact on the general Lok Sabha elections, back home the people in Jammu and Kashmir particularly the younger generation is so much disillusioned with the present corrupt system and disappointed too that not many have any idea how to bring the State out from the clutches of corruption. The response to the change, that Delhi witnessed rather dramatic rise of a new party under the unassuming Arvind Kejriwal, with the Aam Aadmi Party cutting into the cynicism of Delhi, and forming the government in record time, is not on the expected lines in Jammu and Kashmir. In De...

| | | | Why Omar Govt didn't celebrate its anniversary? | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 5: Why did Omar Abdullah government shy away from celebrating the five years in office despite knowing that he may not get another opportunity to celebrate such an achievement.
Completing five years is not great achievement. In other states, governments are formed for five years but in Jammu and Kashmir the tenure is for six years.
According to sources, the chief minister doesn't want to be in any kind of odd position where he will have to answer the queries related to alliance with Congress party as his close aid Devender Singh Rana, who is also the National Conference provincial president for Jammu province, has already made a statement that NC has kept a...

Jammu, Dec 5: The advertisement issued by the Department of Information titled `Let facts speak' claims development on almost all the fronts. The advertisement claims that the literacy has increased to about 79%. "Two Central Universities, 2 Campuses, 45 Degree Colleges, 8500 schools and fifty Polytechnics set up and upgraded."
This appears too rosy. However, the facts from the ground narrate a different story. Most of the so-called Degree Colleges operate from a room or two and lack proper infrastructure. According to experts, a Degree College must have a playground and all other infrastructure needed for physical and psychological development of the students.
