| Shah laid to rest with honours | | | | Early Times report
SRINAGAR, JAN 7: Former Chief Minister, Mr. G. M. Shah, who passed away yesterday, was laid to rest with full State honours, here today.
The nimaz-e-jinaza of Mr. Shah was offered at Polo Ground in which large number of people besides the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, ministers, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar and Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din, newly-elected legislators, Mr. Irfan Shah, Mr. Nasir Sogami and Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, senior officers, representatives of various political, religious and social organizations, close relatives as well as friends participated. Mr. Devinder Rana, MLC, was also present.
Later, the body of the departed leader was taken in a procession with full State honours to his ancestral graveyard, at Ziyarat Hazrat Syed Mohammad Mantaqi (RA), in Chattabal, where he was laid to rest. A contingent of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police lowered their arms as the body of the departed leader was being laid to rest.

JAMMU, JAN 7: The Government has appointed Mr. S. L. Bhat, Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development Department, as Inquiry Officer to enquire into the fire incident which broke out in the Legislative Assembly Complex, here yesterday afternoon.
This follows the directions of the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah to have the incident enquired into.
The Development Commissioner, Power and the Director General, Fire Services, will assist the Inquiry Officer in conduct of the enquiry.

JAMMU, JAN 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) has clarified that the age limits for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), 2009 has not been changed or modified.
According to a communication received from the PSC, the upper age limit prescribed for CCE, 2009 has been fixed at 35 years for General (Open) Category candidates and 40 years for Reserved/In-Service Category candidates, as on January 1, 2008, in terms of notification issued by the Government vide SRO No: 397 dated 30.12.2008.

JAMMU, JANUARY 07- Governor, Mr N N Vohra, has appointed Choudhry Mohammad Aslam as Speaker Pro-tem of the State Legislative Assembly in terms of section 59 (1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Constitution .

Jammu, Jan 7: The National Conference-Congress goverment government proposes to set up an administrative commission to examine the issue of discrimination among three regions of the state and suggest measures to remove it.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the commission will be headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court preferably from outside the state.

New Delhi, Jan 7: Six terrorists, part of a Pakistani group which struck in Mumbai, have been sent to Kashmir for "some operations", according to the dossier India handed over to Pakistan.
Citing the interrogation report of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist held during the Mumbai attacks, the dossier says that the six terrorists had undergone training in various parts of Pakistan along with seven of the 10 terrorists who were responsible for the November 26 carnage in the western metropolis.
