JAMMU, Oct 4: With preparations for launch of cross-LoC trade already in full swing, the delegation of Pakistan administered Kashmir traders is arriving in Jammu on October 12 on a three day visit to hold discussions with their counterparts.
There delegation, reaching Srinagar on October 9, will be in Jammu for three days to understand trade potential of region and finalise modalities with local traders. The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with some other trade and industry bodies is likely to put up an exhibition of local products to give the visiting delegation an idea produce and commodities.
Earlier today the Governor, Mr N N Vohra, visited Salamabad in Uri this morning and reviewed the ongoing work for the establishment of the Trade Facilitation Centre, coming up on war footing basis for meeting the dead-line of 21st October, the date set for cross LoC trade with Pak occupied Kashmir.

JAMMU, Oct 4: The Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti is holding a function to honour the families of the martyrs of Jammu agitation and offer them compensation here tomorrow.
The function is being held at the Sanatan Bharam Sabha School in Rehari. Religious leaders from different parts of country are likely to participate in the function.
The Police are expecting participation of Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Parveen Togadia. Sources said that the Police may try to prevent Togadia from attending the function on various grounds. This may spark off tension.

NEW DELHI, Oct 4: US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Saturday described the Indo-US civil nuclear deal as a historic achievement, and said that the implementing 123 Agreement will be signed very soon.
Rice was addressing a joint press conference in New Delhi after meeting External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The Secretary of State, who arrived in India earlier today, was due to ink the agreement along with the External Affairs Minister but the signing has been postponed due to procedural issues like delay in President George W Bush signing the legislation passed by the Congress into law.

Jammu, Oct 4: The Army has foiled an infiltration bid by armed militants, who tried to intrude under the cover of firing from Pakistan side along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, making it the fourth such incident this week, police said.
Meanwhile security has been upped in Jammu in view of threat perception of militant attack due the ensuing festive season of Navratras and forthcoming Diwali.

JAMMU, Oct 4: Ahead of the formal launch of prestigious 450 MW Baglihar hydro-electric power project on river Chenab, possibly later this month, India’s Indus Water Commission has allowed its Pakistani counterparts for an inspection.
A phase of Baglihar project has been successfully tested and is up for formal commissioning. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to commission the project if the tentative schedule of his launching Srinagar-Muzaffarabad truck service on October 21 stands.

LEH, Oct 4: India is set to revive another air base on the India-China frontier, nearly four months after landing an aircraft at one of the world's highest airstrips at Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) in Ladakh, officials said.
The Fukche airbase in eastern Ladakh, which is only 2.5 km away from the Line of Actual Control (LoAC) - the de-facto border between India and China - will be made operational in a month. The Indian Army has been carrying out repair work at the airbase.
