Jammu, Feb 21: After being sworn in as Member of the Rajya Sabha senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has resigned as member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Azad submitted his resignation on February 19 to pro-tem speaker of J&K assembly Choudhary Mohammad Aslam, who has accepted it, secretary of the house M Ramzan said today.
Azad, who became an MLA from Bhaderwah segment in Doda district for a second straight term in polls late last year, was elected in biennial elections to Rajya Sabha uncontested on February 6.

JAMMU, FEB 21: The Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rahim rather today said that the next year's proposed Annual Plan size of Jammu and Kashmir is slated to be Rs. 6,500 crore, excluding Rs. 2,417 crore proposed plan outlay under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme (PMRP) for 2009-10.
The proposed plan outlay 2009-10 was discussed at a high-level meeting here today, held under the chairmanship of Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather.
The proposed plan outlay will soon be submitted to the Planning Commission, Government of India, for subsequent approval.

Mendhar, Feb 21: A National Conference worker died of cardiac arrest and three others sustained injuries after being electrocuted while hoisting a party flag prior to the scheduled visit of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Mendhar in Poonch district.
They said that Muhammad Sharief, 50, son of Hatimudin of Uchad Mendah died on the spot after being hit by three persons who fell down from a partition wall they were atop to hoist a NC flag.
