| PDP to stay away from Budget Session over Shinde's remarks | | | |

JAMMU, Mar 13: Opposition People’s Democratic party (PDP) today announced to boycott the remaining session of the State legislature in protest against the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's statement that body of Mohammad Afzal Guru would not be returned to his family.
The PDP president Mehbooba Mufti amid din in the House during question hour today said: "Sense of the House was conveyed to the Government of India but the Home Minister was most arrogant and he insulted the House so there is no reason to attend this session now onwards," Mehbooba said that demand for return of mortal remains of Guru was a human issue, it should not be given religious colour. "I congratulate Panthers Party, they raised the issue of Chamail Singh in the House and demanded that his mortal remains should be brought back from Pakistan and handed over to his family, there is some movement on the issue, there is information that his body is being returned by Pakistan," said Mehbooba adding that if Pakistan which is our neighboring country could return the Chamail Singh's body why not... | |

JAMMU, Mar 13: The body of the Indian national, who died in custody in Pakistan jail after being allegedly thrashed by the jail wardens on January 15, arrived here tonight from Pakistan.
"The body of Chamel Singh has arrived here in Jammu from Pakistan tonight," SSP Jammu Rajeshwar Singh said.
The body of Singh, which was handed over by the Pakistani authorities at Wagah border, was received by his two brothers and son along with the BSF officials around 1400 hours and was brought by road to Jammu from there.
The body has been kept at the mortuary of Government Medical College (GMC) hospital, where the post mortem would be conducted tomorrow.

NEW DELHI, Mar 13: Five Army jawans face sack orders while other actions have been recommended by a Court of Inquiry (CoI) against 55 other personnel including the Commanding Officer of a unit in a case of indiscipline Samba in Jammu and Kashmir last year.
The case relates to an incident in the 16 Cavalry Unit in Samba last year where officers and jawans were engaged in a face-off after a jawan committed suicide on August 8.

JAMMU, Mar 13: To complete its accounts at the end of financial year, the Power Development Department Jammu has fined consumers with huge sum without sending prior notices to them.
The electricity bills for the month of February have come as a shock for consumers all around the city as PDD has added fine in thousands for no faults.
The PDD has targeted those areas where electric transformers were damaged during winters and taking a cue from it the department has sent inflated bills. Some have got bills for the month of February over Rs 20000.

NEW DELHI, Mar 13: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said the suicide attack in Srinagar is an indicator that the Government has to remain "very alert" in Kashmir valley.
"We are analysing how the attack took place," he said, adding that it is difficult to predict when terror will strike.
