Controversial & non-academician from Kashmir may become VC
Central University Jammu
3/18/2010 11:23:32 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 18: Informed sources have shared some startling information with the Early Times. It is regarding the “move” on the part of certain “anti-Jammu forces in the Raj Bhawan” and “state government” to convince the “search committee, constituted by the concerned authorities in New Delhi, of the need of appointing controversial non-academician Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University, Avantipur, Sadiq Wahid, as Vice-Chancellor of the Central University, Jammu”. The search committee may meet even today.       The move is fraught with dangerous ramifications. The appointment of Sadiq Wahid as the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University in Jammu would surely lead to serious protests as the awakened sections here have declared in the past several times that they would not allow any Kashmiri to function if the anti-Jammu authorities would select a person other than a Dogra. Their argument was, and is, that there is no dearth of academicians of repute in the Jammu province and that they were fed with the official policy that has always supported academicia...

Does the ACC know that Yes Minister is getting so sinister?
3/18/2010 10:34:04 PM
ABID SHAH NEW DELHI, MAR 18: The easiest route for bureaucrats to climb up the ladder of power and position has, indeed, been for years going through the office of the Minister whether at the Centre or in the States. The Yes Minister syndrome is not confined to that of Ministers’ offices alone but also cuts across the office of Prime Minister at the Centre and Chief Ministers in States.   Yet, Union Government’s Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has preferred to make an exemption for the babus serving in the PMO vis-à-vis its decision taken earlier this month to put a ceiling on the time-period for officials serving on the personal staff of their political bosses.   The ACC ha...

Kashmir’s Political Future: Clash between Geelani and Malik  - III
STARK REALITY
3/18/2010 10:33:50 PM
RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 18: Notwithstanding these dissimilarities, the possibility of the likes of Maliks ultimately endorsing the idea of the state becoming part of Pakistan cannot be overruled. After all, JKLF cadres as well as Yasin Malik are ideologically indoctrinated in Jamait seminaries and this fact cannot be ignored. They will forget their water concerns, as also the Pakistan’s reign of senseless brutalities in Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.       India has seen such dissimilarities among the various movements started by the Muslims before 1947, but on the issue of their ultimate objective they were all one. Take, for example, the confl...
