Thanks to official apathy only elite allowed at Sidhra Golf Course
4/24/2014 11:37:22 PM
Arun Singh JAMMU, Apr 24: The idea of promoting high end golf tourism in Jammu and Kashmir through the three golf courses of Srinagar, Gulmarg and Jammu is dying a slow death due to the lack of vision on part of the Tourism department of the state, especially with regards to the Sidhra golf course where unwarranted restrictions have reduced this public property into the domain of the chosen few. Sources told Early Times that the development of 18 holes Golf Course Sidra was taken up in 2007 with an objective of promoting golf tourism in Jammu but surprisingly only chosen few have been allowed to enter the premises of the Golf course, defeating the purpose of its inception. They further said that the Tourism Department without accord of Administrative Approval (AA) and Technical Sanction (TS) took up development of 18 hole golf course on the left bank of river Tawi at Sidhra Jammu at an estimated cost of Rs 37.39 crore (revised cost). The work was targeted for completion in two phases viz. phase first up to nine holes and phase second from 10 to 18 holes alongwith other allied wor...

Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 24: The gradual though subtle increase in polling percentage in Anantnag constituency is worrying trend for National Conference. It had devised a special strategy as its game plan was if Mehbooba is defeated that it will spell doom for the party and it could be to the advantage of the National Conference. `Low turnout dangerous for democracy'
4/24/2014 11:23:06 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 24: The low voting percentage in Anantnag parliamentary constituency in general and in Pulwama district in particular is very dangerous trend being setup in Kashmir valley, which is trying to come out of the violence phase of 25 years. It is a known fact that reason behind low turnout in Pulwama district of south Kashmir is the recent killings of Sarpanches and the posters put up on the name of Hizbul Mujahideen cautioning people against voting. But people must understand this fact that since 1987 when elections were rigged by then ruling party and followed by low turnout in almost every Assembly or Parliamentary elections here benefitted only one party. JU gifts away posts to influential candidates
4/24/2014 11:22:28 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 24: It would not be perhaps wrong to say that the Jammu University is the most (so called) liberal institute to take 'arbitrary' decisions while employing its faculty, succumbing to influential pressure. Despite strong orders from the Governor (Chancellor Jammu University) about one person one post in the university, Dr Archana Kesar seems to be an exception holding three different posts, even without having proper knowledge and understanding of one of the departments and subjects. According to a professor in the University, Dr Archana has done her masters in Sanskrit, followed by M.Phil in same subject and Hon's in Dogri. She has done her Ph.D in Dogri. De...

The manifesto was released with much fanfare by the party candidate to the lone Ladakh Lok Sabha seat, Tsering Samphal, in the presence of all senior Congress leaders, including former Union Minister P Namgyal and Rigzin Jora, Cabinet Minister in the Omar Abdullah NC-Congress coalition Government . The objective, obviously, wa...
