| First time after 26/11, Singh-Zardari meet scheduled for today | | | |

Yekaterinburg (Russia), June 15: In the first formal contact between India and Pakistan since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will hold talks with Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari here Tuesday with a clear message that the resumption of dialogue will depend on Islamabad’s “credible action” against terrorism.
Manmohan Singh and Zardari will hold a half-an-hour meeting in the Silver Room of Hotel Hyatt Regency in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, the industrial town located nearly 1,400 km from Moscow and famous as the site of the execution of the last Tsar of Russia and his family.
The two leaders will meet on the sidelines of the six-nation summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) where India and Pakistan, along with Iran and Mongolia, are invited as observers.

Jammu, June 15: Authorities on Monday suspended the Amarnath pilgrimage, which began today, due to bad weather and snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir valley.
The pilgrimage has been suspended from Jammu tomorrow in view of bad weather conditions and snowfall in some areas of south Kashmir himalayas, an official spokesman said here today.
The pilgrimage began from the city today with the first batch of 900 pilgrims leaving the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar here.
Earlier, the first batch of nearly 900 pilgrims today left for Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine to have darshan of the holy Shivlingam.

New Delhi, Jun 15 : The Rupees 298.76 crore project for restoring the pristine beauty of the world famous Dal Lake in Srinagar was going to be delayed.
Though work on the project was going on, cleaning of the lake was beset with so many problems that the task would not be completed on its scheduled time--March next year, sources in the Ministry of Environment told a news gathering agency today.

Srinagar, June 15: Minister for Education and Public Enterprises, Peerzada Mohammad Syed has approved the regularization of 594 teachers and 21 non-teaching officials who had been appointed against migrant vacancies in Anantnag and Kulgam districts. The formal orders for the regularization of migrant substitutes in the twin districts of Anantnag and Kulgam were issued here today.

The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet at its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here today.
During the session, the Railway Budget will be presented on July three and the General Budget on July six.
This will be the first budget to be presented by the new UPA Government that took over on May 22. Earlier, the vote on account was passed at the week-long session of Parliament held from June one to nine.

Jalandhar, June 15: Seven students who returned from NASA have been tested positive for the dreaded H1N1 virus or Swine flu, a day after one boy from the same group contracted the flu. This has taken the swine flu cases in India to 30.
Earlier in the day, nine students who went on the educational trip were quarantined at a hospital here today after they showed symptoms of the disease.
"We have admitted as many as nine students, who have just returned from America, in the isolation ward of civil hospital after they complained of fever and sore throat. Their blood samples have been sent to Delhi for tests," Dr S S Walia, Civil Surgeon of Civil Hospital told agencies.
