| Today is ‘Black Sunday’ | | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu | July 12
A quiet but tense Jammu has all eyes focused on the Governor NN Vohra’s next action as yet another round of agitation is waiting to roll out on Wednesday even as Sunday is being observed as Black Day in Jammu as a mark of protest against the Amarnath Shrine land issue.
The Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti which temporarily suspended its agitation Monday, had set deadline for Tuesday asking the Governor to retrieve land which was surrendered to the Tourism department. If there is no response from the Governor till Tuesday, a more violent agitation is likely to be resumed on the issue.
Meanwhile, the Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (AYSS) Saturday ann...

However, adopting a procession approach the Police top brass rather preferred to maintain silence instead of falling in the political trap.
Now since it has come out of the political pre...

The long list of transfers and postings in Police and Civil Administration issued by the Government this evening reflects two major things –one that the Governor, unlike his many past predecessors, has adopted a policy of ‘continuity with change’ and second that he is too serious about holding elections in time.
When contacted in Srinagar, top sources in the government told EARLY TIMES tha...

After winning the Akhnoor Assembly seat in 1996 election Govind Ram was inducted in the Council of ministers as minister of state for health. At that time his was a frail frame and totally emaciated.Within three months his face turned rosy. This is what one experienced in the case of late Ghulam Mohiuddin Shah,Abdul Rahim Rather,Mohd.Shafi and others.Their pale faces and infirm frame were replaced by resplendent visage and vigour after they were sworn in as cabinet ministers. It was all "power "given gift.Shah who had remained down with knee and other physical problems, and could not move about without a support was seen climbing the stairs of the Assembly secretar...
