On fifth day of the fresh round of agitation, situation in winter capital city and its adjoining areas continued to remain tense as protestors openly defied curfew restrictions and fought pitched battles with Police and other security forces deployed in several areas.
The Old City areas of Pacca Danga, Kachi Chhawni, Parade, Raj Tilak Road and Purani Mandi continued to be the epicenter of violent demonstrations where scores of people including a Jawan of Rapid Action Force and several Police cops have been injured. Incidents of smashing of public property have also been reported from several areas as Police and other security forces found themselves on receiving end of the protestors.

Succumbing to public pressure, the government today attached Deputy Superintendent of Police Bakshi Nagar Mohan Lal Kaith who was allegedly accused of showing disrespect to the body of a youth on July 23.
Well informed sources in police department said that Director General of Police (DGP) today attached ML Kaith to District Police Lines (DPL) and posted DySP Dushyant Sharma as new SDPO Bakshi Nagar Jammu with immediate effect.

Extending the earlier deadline of Sunday, the winter Capital City will observer a shut down on Monday on the call of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti. Curfew is also likely to continue in the Old City areas even though it was lifted, after a four hour long relaxation, in all areas on South of the Tawi Bridge.
To gauge the situation, the district administration had this evening relaxed curfew in areas including Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Bahu Fort, R.S Pura, Bishnah, Arnia, Gharota, Kana Chak, Akhnoor and Khour. However, as no untoward incident was reported from these areas, the curfew was finally lifted.

A live bomb was today found in a garbage can in Amraiwadi area of the blast-hit city even as the toll from the serial explosions rose to 38.
The bomb disposal squad was called to defuse the bomb, police sources said. As many as 162 people have been injured in yesterday's blasts creating panic across the state.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi has called a special cabinet meeting in Gandhinagar to discuss the security situation in the state. Sixteen serial blasts had rocked the city last evening in a span of 60 to 70 minutes.

After casting his vote in the Parliament and delivering a ten-minute long bombshell speech, which Kuldeep said motivated him to offer sacrifice of his life, Omar returned to Srinagar on July 24.
