| Employees divide on regional lines, office work suspended across Jammu | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 19- Cracks developed in Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), an amalgam of various employees unions and associations in Jammu and Kashmir today when its Jammu chapter defied the decision to call off the proposed two-day strike against “pay anomalies" and went ahead with jamming official work today. People had to face hardships as the work in most of the government offices in Jammu remained affected due to the two-day strike called by the JCC. Work in most of the departments remained affected, as a majority of the employees did not attend offices.” The strike would continue tomorrow also as per schedule. We will go ahead with the program given to employees", senior member JCC Ram Kumar Sharma said.
The striking employees, according to JCC, have been asked to assemble in Exhibition Ground tomorrow at 10 am sharp for holding a massive rally.

Srinagar, Aug 19: Amidst demands of creation of autonomous administrative units for empowerment at sub-regional level emanating from different parts of state, the Upper House of State Legislature today passed a resolution for establishment of Autonomous Hill Development Council for the Chenab Valley region –comprising districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.
The passing of this resolution in the Legislative Council is being seen as unprecedented even as the Government tried to resist by assuring the House that sufficient empowerment has been done for the region by trifurcation of Doda district into three districts.

Jammu, Aug 19: Tightening its stand on the issue, the Central University Anodal Samiti today took out a torch light procession from Geeta Bhawan even as protests and demonstrations by continued in various schools and colleges of Jammu City.
The CUAS members told Early Times that heavy Police deployment had been made outside the Geeta Bhawan to prevent procession but they defied restrictions to press the case for establishment of Central University in Jammu.
