| Statistics again embarrass Government in assembly | | Speaker assures action on privilege motion against Govt | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 25: As the government once faulted with its own statistics, the Assembly Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone today assured opposition BJP that he will take "appropriate action" if it brings a privilege motion against the State Government for allegedly misleading the House. The latest contradiction is on the number of Kashmiri Pandit migrants –House was given to understand that there were only 33439 registered Hindu migrants, a year ago the same House was told about 56000 migrants.
The assurance came after BJP legislature party leader Chaman Lal Gupta complained to Lone that the Government was misleading the House by giving contradictory replies to questions regarding the number of Kashmiri migrants.
"Bring the privilege motion, I assure you that I will take appropriate action", the speaker said in the House.

SRINAGAR, Aug 25: Jammu & Kashmir Police has succeeded in re-arresting former “Chief Commander of Operations” of Hizbul Mujahideen, Nisar Ahmed Bhat alias Gazi Misbah-ud-din of Arwani, Kulgam, within a week of his dramatic disappearance from the premises of District & Sessions Court Anantnag where he had been enlarged on bail on August 19th. Failure to re-arrest him in other criminal cases already registered against him had caused an unprecedented embarrassment to Police. Even as an inquiry had been ordered to find involvement of insiders into the ‘escape’, Police and security forces were on tenterhooks to get Gazi arrested at any cost.

New Delhi: A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was arrested in Delhi on Tuesday and explosives were recovered from him, police said.
The man who alighted from a train on the Ajmeri Gate side of the New Delhi Railway Station was caught by Delhi Police's Special Cell at around 12:40 pm, deputy commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Alok Kumar said. Two of his associates, however, escaped.
The man was carrying an identity card bearing the name Salim from Jammu & Kashmir and also a Pakistani passport bearing the name Yusuf, Kumar said, adding four detonators, two timers and explosive chemicals were recovered from him.

Srinagar Aug 25: Seven paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were injured when militants attacked a local hotel used as a camp in the posh tourist hub of Dalgate in Srinagar late on Monday evening, police said.
A senior police officer said the unidentified militants tossed a powerful hand grenade which fell and exploded inside the hotel complex, housing the headquarters of CRPF's 162nd battalion. "Seven CRPF troopers were injured in this explosion," the officer said, adding they were taken to hospital for treatment. Doctors at the SKIMS Soura described the condition of two troopers as serious, police added.
