Jammu, Sept 28: All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA) expressed serious concern over the unprecedented increase in fuel price hike, Vat Tax, service tax, insurance rate of transport vehicle and decided to observe one day token strike on September 30. Addressing a meeting which was attended by representatives of all passenger transport associations, members said already transport business is burdened with various taxes/fees imposed by authorities concern. They said we have approached various times to state government for revision in passenger fare through print/ electronic media and also submitted an memorandum to the transport commissioner demanding 40% hike in passenger fare/ freight immediately but nothing has been done till date. They said we are not interested to take agitation path, but failure of the government to take cognizance of our demands shall force us to come to road. Those who were present on the occasion included Anil Chopra, Pritam Singh, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Kuldeep Singh and Sukhbir Singh. |
