| Vakil ridicules Omar's Accession statement | | `It is a political gimmick' | | Akshay Azad Jammu, Sept 28: Lashing out at Omar Abdullah for his recent statement on Accession, firebrand Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakil asserted that the statement was simply a political gimmick by Omar Abdullah to divert the attention of masses from failures of NC led Government on all fronts. Omar while interacting with the European delegation had said that Jammu Kashmir had acceded not merged with India. "As the elections are drawing closer, for concentration of votes Omar Abdullah is befooling the masses by raising issue of accession. But people are vigilant enough and they know about saying and practice of National Conference", he said. He further stated that it was a general practice of National Conference that whenever they were not in power they raise the issue of autonomy to retain power but when came in power they shelved the same. "I want to ask them where is the issue of Autonomy these days? Same is the case with issue of Accession", he said, adding that whenever NC needed some appeasement from Union Government they raised such issues. Vakil further said that it has been a basic character of NC to exploit such issues for its personal benefits and to retain in power. However, he made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir was integral part of India and NC has been hoodwinking the masses for concentration of votes. Meanwhile, spokesperson of Pradesh Congress Committee Ravinder Sharma said that J&K was an integral part of India. The accession of State with Union of India is complete and irrevocable, he said. |
